Dawn Wrap & Dusk Scarf Knitting Patterns

Dawn & Dusk are part of my collection in Elements - the knitting book is available in both digital and paper versions, but I’ve just released these 2 as single knitting patterns today. And if you'd like a chance to win  the yarn to make the Dusk Scarf - read on for more details.

Inspired by the heavy dew and brooding mists of early autumn mornings, Dawn was knitted in the luxurious hazy Alpaca Colour (sadly now discontinued) and adorned with beads which yield an elegant drape, providing both comfort and a touch of glamour. A substantial but achievable project, great for texture lovers and intermediate knitters wishing to expand their knitting repertoire to include cables, twisted stitches and knitting with beads.

This pattern will knit up beautifully with any DK weight yarn, so the world’s your oyster in terms of yarn options. If you like the drape of the cowl though you may want to use an alpaca yarn, or something rather luscious with silk in it. Avoid textured or highly variegated yarn or you'll not see the fine cables and beads.

A perfect partner to the Dawn Wrap,  the Dusk Scarf denotes the opposite end of the day when night begins to creep in.  Knitted in sock weight yarn, this scarf will provide enough warmth for an autumn day without overheating the wearer.  If the men in your life complain of always being hot, this finer weight knit will serve them well. It will also suit more formal jackets and outer wear. Although shown here for a man, the scarf is unisex and will  be just as suitable for women.

Rowan fine art yarn giveaway

This project is small and achievable so it’s great for gift giving. It’s no dull knit however, and is great for texture lovers and intermediate knitters wishing to expand their knitting repertoire to include cables and twisted stitches.  Both knitting patterns have charts and also written instructions for the chart non-believers!

And for one lucky winner I’ve got the 2 Skeins of Rowan Fine Art yarn needed to knit your own Dusk Scarf to give away in Waxwing sh 303. A beautifully hand painted merino/kid mohair/mulberry silk blend, this luxurious yarn is now also sadly discontinued, so it's a rare chance to get your hands on some.

*this giveaway is now closed and the yarn since gone to the lucky winner - Lesley of Camarthan, UK*
