Privacy Policy
Under GDPR regulations I handle your personal data under both a contractual basis or a consensual basis. If you make a purchase, or contact me with a query, I will use your data to fulfill the contract of delivering your purchase or responding to your data. I use a variety of third party processors to help with that. I also have an email mailing list, for which I use MailChimp to process your data. You will never be added to that list without your explicit consent which happens when you opt-in to receive emails/newletters from me.
What information do you collect?
When you make a purchase certain information is needed from you to fulfil my contract with you: your name, address, email address and phone number.
When you browse my website store, I automatically receive your IP address in order to communicate with your browser. This also give as some geographical information that is used for Fraud analysis and EU tax purposes. Additionally, your browser sends some information about your OS and browser which allows my website to be displayed correctly on your system.
I download order details from my website/Etsy/Ravelry stores in order to print packing slips and postal labels. Once these have been printed any downloaded information is deleted from my computer immediately.
Why do you need my address for digital purchases?
Under EU law we have to pay VAT on digital sales based on the customer’s location. Even if you do not live in an EU country we are required to keep evidence of that, so we ask for your address.
Why do you need my phone number?
Most orders will be posted with Royal Mail, but sometimes orders might be sent with a courier, such as UPS or DPD, who require a phone number. Unfortunately I am not able to ask for a phone number for just those orders, so it is required for all orders. I will never use your phone number for any other purpose.
What will you do with my email address?
I will only contact you via email if there is a problem with your order or if you have signed up to my email list/newsletter. Sometimes I have to update a pattern because of an error, and sometimes your purchase will include a collection of patterns which are released over a period of time. In those cases I use an automated update system which will send you an email. I will never add your email address to my mailing list without your confirmed consent, and you can unsubscribe from this at any point.
How can I update or delete my details?
If you would like your data to be deleted please email donna@donnajonesdesigns.co.uk and I will then delete any data that I have access to. Please note that my store will not delete your data until the 180 day window for credit card chargebacks has passed and that some anonymised transaction data does need to be preserved for tax purposes.
When will you disclose my personal data to a third party?
I will only disclose your personal data if needed to do so in order to fulfil your order, eg. to a courier service, or if required to do so by law.
